So it's been nearly a month and I haven't written a single post. That's because I've been getting a life!
Things have been so lovely these last few weeks, I won't lie there has been some hard times, but on the whole I really like this loving my life thing. So the things I was wanted to track in review from my first blog was; appearance and weight, my interests and hobbies, the people who make my life wonderful and the career path I want. So I'll start from the top!
Appearance and weight
Well I've always had a weight issue and in fact cannot remember a time were I haven't been at least over weight. A few weeks prior to starting this
blog I challenged myself to a 12 week HONEST challenge. Why I say honest is because I love/loved to lie to myself! Previously when I've tried to tackle my weight I never took ownership, blaming situations, making excuses, finding ways out, but this time I want to be accountable and seriously change things.
So I am now at starting week 7 of my challenge, where I started weighing in at 102.4kg, and am proud to say that I am now 96.2kg with a weight loss of 6.2 kilos. It feels great! My goal is to reach 90kg by the end of week 12 where I will then reward myself with a freaking awesome hairdresser experience! Rewarding myself has been an awesome motivation for this, one thing I've never done before.
My appearance, or how I perceive my appearance, has really improved concededly with this weight loss.I'm much more confident and feel much more healthy.
Interests and Hobbies
For the past few years I have really lost/forgotten what really interests me. My 'hobby' was mindlessly sitting at my computer watching and waiting for the next facebook update then stalking the crap out of that person. (Maybe not that insane but sometimes, shamefully, yes it was that bad.) So I decided to get back into things I remembered made me happy and also try out some new things. Firstly I've started to play music again! I've been playing in a trio, now known as 'The Trio', with my husband Del and Michelle, a lovely grade 2 teacher who is very talented on the clarinet. I've also been getting involved with the Goondiwindi Community Band and conducting a few piece (Birdland is so fun!) and jamming with a few people hopefully one day playing some gigs at pubs! I can't believe how long I lived without music in my life. I mean I taught it but I stopped doing things I loved and now that I'm back into it I've gotten such joy from it.
I've also been getting a few quilting lessons from a lovely lady, Margaret, at a little sewing shop in the main street of Goondiwindi. At the moment I'm making a cute quilted bag. It's going slowly because I only work on it in the lesson as I haven't purchased the utensils I need for quilting at home yet. I really enjoy going into the shop and sitting down, chatting to the ladies, and letting the world pass by while I sew. I think It's a possible keeper for a new hobby!
The People Who Make My Life Wonderful
I think I will focus on my husband for the first post! Del is a beautiful, wonderfully talented and supportive man. I have to remind myself when I annoyed at him, for lets say not responding to my question/statement quickly enough etc, just how lucky I am. He has really helped me to understand the importance of doing things that I enjoy and make me happy.
We are such different people but apart from all our differences we have one really important thing incommon, we both love each other unconditionally. Love is great! Del is great! Life is great!
The Career Path I Want
Well I've always wanted/thought I've wanted to be a classroom and instrumental music teacher. So I'm going to give it a go. I've enrolled myself in the
Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching starting semester 2 (soon) and graduating by the middle of next year. I think/hope I'm going in the right direction! But hey I'm still young and have heaps of time to decided which career I want! I tell you what though I need to do some serious self but kicking to make sure I get all my study done! It's been a while.
So there you have it! The me I want to be ... I think I'm well on the way!
